In Loving Memory

My favorite aunt her name is Mary, full of mirth, full of merry

She took us for drives to the park and to Fiesta. Always on the go no time for siestas.

She taught us to laugh, to play for the camera.

To town we would go,

Calling her “aunt” was a no-no

And discreetly walk 20 paces back.

In case some guy would offer his hand.

My favorite aunt her name is Mary, full of mirth, full of merry

She took us for drives to the park and to Fiesta. Always on the go no time for siestas.

Encouraging she would be “Follow your dreams” she would cry,

She gave us a reason to have a dream and not be afraid to try.

She would show us love with a smile and a wink of her eye.

My favorite aunt her name is Mary, full of mirth, full of merry

She took us for drives to the park and to Fiesta. Always on the go no time for siestas.

She is now at peace away to a new life; new adventures and no more strife.

She has no more tears for the Lord has erased all her fears.

Sorrows multiply like drops of rain, drowning in the midst of the pain,

Left in the Masters hand to all who mourn He will give beauty for ashes,

Grace for despair, gladness for mourning, strength for fear.

My favorite aunt her name is Mary, she was always full of mirth, filled with merry.

Pearl of Great Price

The pearl of great price: Matthew 13:45-46 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a merchant seeking fine pearls, who having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

Has the excitement of life in God’s Kingdom become dull, common place, gradually declining into lukewarm, unemotional “take-it-for-granted” experience? If a person has always known the Good News, he or she may not always fully appreciate its value.

In researching different gemstones I have discovered something about the pearl that is interesting. The pearl is the only genuine gemstone that is created out of adversity. The oyster has an irritant, always coming from the outside, impure water, bacteria, etc. (even cultured – man made pearls-something is intentionally inserted into the oyster). The oyster begins to cover the irritant layer upon layer a substance that eventually hardens with a luster – then one day the wound is healed and a beautiful pearl emerges.

Pearls look good on young and old alike and are appropriate for any occasion. For generations the pearl has been highly valued, and still is today. The pearl can be found mentioned in ancient scriptures of religions of the world, Hindu, Hebrew, the Christian bible. Out of all the gemstones that glitter and shine only the pearl has a luster that actually radiates light.

In the bible we read about the Pearl of great price – some scholars believe this means wisdom and getting wisdom sometimes involves living through heartache. Others believe that the Pearl of Great Price is Jesus, for the great price He paid for you and me. Either way the Merchant recognized the value of what he found.

We read in scriptures about how God works together the things that occur in our life for our good and His glory. We read about the pearly gates in heaven. Could it be that the gates are actually created out of the irritants, tragic losses, etc. that happens in our lives? The Grace of God has given us, layer upon layer till it produces a healed wound a “precious stone”. Like the gemstone - believers have a luster that radiates his love and shines for his glory.

Let the pearl be a reminder that you have been bought with a great price as you radiate God's love and grace as a testimony and an everlasting witness.

Keep on Dancing

When the nights are long and it seems there is no end

Keep your eyes on Jesus

When you have wandered through the wind and rain

Keep your eyes on Jesus

When the door appears to be locked and there is no way out

Keep your eyes on Jesus

When you’re in a crowd and you feel all alone

Keep your eyes on Jesus

When you’re dry as the desert and there is no water in sight

Keep your eyes on Jesus

There is before you a choice Life or death

Choose Life in Jesus and keep on dancing

Africa Prays for America

On October 16, 2010 African Christians were in the Capitol for “Africa Prays for America” praying for revival for the United States. How exciting is that, I can only imagine how God will answer that prayer. I wonder if the American Christians understand what people the world over know that America’s destiny is to lead in greatness. America has a history of helping other nations in need and helping them rebuild. Now some of these nations are praying to the Almighty God on our Behalf. I don’t know about you but this humbles me. How many of us pray for other countries on a regular basis? How many of us pray for our own city, state, our country and our government? Someone asked the question “If your community depended on your faith for revival, would we see God’s power in action?” Just imagine if we really believed that our God answers prayer. What changes can be done in a day. I challenge those that read this to pray fervently to God for change to begin in you and then for our city, state, and country. All areas of our life should belong to God. Let’s pray for restoration to begin today.

Food for Thought

I came across a great quote:

Now more than ever the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature. . . . [I]f the next centennial does not find us a great nation . . . it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.

[James A. Garfield, The Works of James Abram Garfield, Burke Hinsdale, editor (Boston: James R. Osgood and Company, 1883), Vol. II, pp. 486, 489, "A Century of Congress," July, 1877.]

WINDY MEMORIES

A Mighty rushing wind

Can't see it, taste it, or hold it

Only the coolness as it touches

My face and hair; all the while

Carrying me to a place I remember...

The memory burns so deep on that

Autumn day, so long ago,

Together walking with you at my side,

Fighting back the tears as you said goodbye...

I didn't understand then, but now I see

It was the best for you and me.

Though life has been good, still I don't know why

The wind takes me back to a time...

When the pain took by breath away.

And, "If Only's..." run around in my head of

Dreams unfulfilled...

Suddenly... I'm reminded

Of new dreams that took its place and as the

Wind dies down.... I am thankful that it's

Time to come back and into the arms of the

One who loves me with a love that will

Never die. No I will never let go...

No matter how strong the winds may blow.

He who began a good work in you

“He who began a good work in you
will carry it on to completion” Philippians 1:6

Christ likeness is your eventual destination,

This journey will last a lifetime and involves:

Believing (through worship),

Belonging (through fellowship), and

Becoming (through discipleship).

Every day God wants you to become a little more like him:

“You have begun to live the new life, in which you are being made new
and are becoming like the One who made you.” Colossians 3:10

Wash My Feet

Wash my feet Lord…
Clean the dirt away…
Fill me with your forgiveness
So I can forgive.

Wash my hands Lord…
Clean the dirt away…
Fill me with your provision
So I can provide.

Wash my mouth Lord…
Clean the dirt away…
Fill me with sweet words
So I can tell others.

Wash my heart Lord…
Clean the dirt away…
Fill me with your Love
So I can give Love…

Wash my mind Lord…
Clean the dirt away…
Fill me with your Light
So I have nothing but you.

Wash my feet Lord…
Clean the dirt away…

SING AND DANCE

Though I may slip and fall, you call my name,
you reach out to me and lead me in the dance
You sing to me all around even though I hear no sound.
My soul longs to join the chorus.
I am amazed you love me.
How can it be that you would die for me?
The light of your glance awakens the joy in my soul.
Your words inspire the song in my heart and no one else satisfies,
The second the eyes of my heart saw the light,
All day long, you have been my delight.
Your love warms me when I am cold …
The breath of your spirit makes me bold.
You Reign in the grandest of times and in my darkest hour.
And in the garden of my tears you bring me flowers.
In your presence, I hear the sweet music in my heart,
And the song will never die even by chance.
On the stars in heaven, we will dance.

Gentle Wind

In a gentle wind God’s voice came from heaven
In a gentle, gentle, wind He came.
My heart sang for joy as I listened to that sweet sweet voice.

I love you, I love you, I love you,
I have come to set you free
Free to dance, free to love, free to sing
Let me surround you with the light of my love, my power to protect,
My presence to watch over you, wherever I am, you are with me.

In a gentle wind he came from heaven
In a gentle, gentle, wind he came

The voice of this world drowns you out, I cannot always hear you, where are you now? I called out but no answer, my heart sank, I looked for you, but did not find you. I have somehow wandered away and I long to hear again that sweet voice, to see that face and feel that embrace.

In a gentle wind God’s voice came from heaven
In a gentle, gentle, wind he came.

In the quiet of my heart, there came a song, slowly a note barely audible then it captured me, my heart understood. In that gentle, gentle wind he came, once again my heart is full of joy as I listened to that sweet, sweet voice.
In this stressful world, your presence quiets me, your voice calms me, and your touch comforts me. Help me remember to quiet my heart and listen for your gentle voice.

In a gentle wind God’s voice came from heaven
In a gentle, gentle, wind he came.

Praise be to God who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me. Psalm 66:20

When the culture is dismal and gloomy…Your Love Brings… color to the flowers and joy to my being.

When I need encouragement…Your Love Brings…the gentle wind that whispers my name.

When I have nothing to say…Your Love Brings…a testimony that over flows with living water.

Most of all…Your Love Brings… embraces with the Kiss of Heaven.

Peaceful Sleep

Dreams of laying on the beach

The water lulling me to sleep,

Refreshing powerful sleep.

Sleep, sleep, peaceful sleep

perchance to dream

If only I could sleep.

To slumber is a gift from God

At the moment I don’t seem to have.

Dreams of a garden oasis

Fragrant flowers surround

A flowing fountain

Peaceful sleep on a bed of roses.

Sleep, sleep, peaceful sleep

perchance to dream

If only I could sleep.

To slumber is a gift from God

I have misplaced my gift, I can’t find.

Dreams of a warm spring day

Sitting on the front porch

Watching people on their way.

Sleep, sleep, peaceful sleep

perchance to dream

If only I could sleep.

To slumber is a gift from God

Oh... where did I put that gift?

My eyes are droopy and tired,

Yawning …still sleep escapes

Wait! There it is I see it.

Sleep, sleep, peaceful sleep

Dreaming of Dancing with my Lord.

Hearing His song in my heart

To slumber is a gift from God

Sleep, sleep, peaceful sleep.

I Am My Father’s Daughter

You will not know Who you are  Until you know WHOSE you are!!!

If I am my Father’s Daughter

I can move mountains

If I am sister to the Anointed One

I can heal the sick

If I am a daughter of the King

I can seize opportunities

If I belong to Jesus

I can walk in Victory

If I was bought with a costly price

I can comfort those that mourn

If I drink from the Fountain

I can rest in green pastures

If I am a child of God

I can raise the dead

If I belong to Jesus

I can step on serpents

If I am my Father’s Daughter

I can walk on water

If the Holy Spirit guides me

I can walk in Forgiveness

If I drink from the Fountain

I can sing in prison

If I am a daughter of the King

I can seek Justice

If the Holy Spirit resides in me

I can walk in Love

If I am a child of the Promise

I have all I need

If I am redeemed by the Blood of the lamb

Forever His Child I Am

BE-E-UTIFUL HONEY

If bees had a choice...would they make ice cream floats?

Instead of Honey?

It's amazing, think of the sales...and the details!

But what would they do with all that money?

Honey it will be as it always has been,

The queen bee loves the sun, don't go askin

The creator chose us to dance from flower to flower

If we had ice cream, wouldn't it melt in a rain shower?

Think what we would have missed...even this hour if

A different path we flew, not the creator's view

If we made ice cream floats instead of honey.

Who Can Satisfy?

Who can Satisfy? Who could ever be more faithful and true?

The water of Jesus Satisfies;
I will NOT dig at Artificial Reservoirs.

The Bread of Jesus Makes full my Hunger;
I will NOT Settle for Crumbs.

The Banqueting Table of Jesus is Extravagant;
I will NOT eat at the World’s Table.

The Presence of Jesus is Fullness of Joy;
I will NOT search for a Manmade Cure

The Peace of Jesus Passes Understanding;
I will NOT search elsewhere to Find Peace.

The Will of Jesus is Perfect;
I will NOT find a more Perfect Design.

The Wisdom of Jesus is Flawless;
I will NOT give consideration to the World’s Point of View.

The Grace of Jesus is Sufficient;
I will NOT settle for Temporal Benefits.

The Redemption of Jesus is Complete;
I will NOT pursue another Protector.

The Covenant of Jesus is Certain;
I will NOT believe another Lovers Promises.

The Provision of Jesus Meets my Needs;
I will NOT be in Pursuit for More.

The Kingdom of Jesus is Unshakable;
I will NOT find a more Trustworthy Place to Stand.

The Smile of Jesus is Enough;
I will NOT seek the Approval of Others.

The Life of Jesus is Glorious;
I will NOT look for another Fountain to Drink from.

The Return of Jesus is Sure;
I will NOT live anxiously. I will Trust in Jesus.

The Blood of Jesus Redeems my Soul;
there is no other Name under or above Heaven.

Jesus is my Rock, my Shelter, my very own,
Blessed Redeemer who Reigns upon the Throne.

You Are What You Read

When Christians truly spend time in the word…then I would say that this is one of the reasons we as a group of people shine with God’s Truth.

You were made to House the Fullness of God…Let your Light Shine!!

You are what you read….I have heard that over the years…

As I pondered that statement, I remembered advice given in a writing class: “To be a good writer, you must read everything you can and especially the kind of books that you want to write. As you read, the style, the voice of the author becomes layered with yours. It saturates your very being as you write, sleep, and act.” If you follow that train of thought, when you read good material on a regular basis -- like the Bible – you become saturated with God’s Word. You will write, speak, and act out His voice.

Is this too simple? Maybe? But it is a very good start towards finding the truth.

What have you been reading lately?

Pure In Heart

Make me pure  in heart
Make it faithful and true
May my prayers be as incense
Rising to your throne
May my life be pleasing to you
Make me pure in heart
I will run to you...
Under the shadow of your wings
I will find a hiding place
In a dry and weary land
there is a spring flowing to refresh me
I will lift my hands to you as long as I live
I have searched and can find no love like you
I will run to you...
I will find a hiding place
Under the shadow of your wings
I will sing and dance for joy
Fill me with your grace to see the wonder of you
No one can touch my heart like you do
Make me pure in heart
Make it faithful and true

FOR GOD...

For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness"

He has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of

God's glory in the face of Jesus Christ.

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary

power may be from God and not from us.

2 Corinthians 4:6-7

YOU WERE MADE TO HOUSE THE FULLNESS OF GOD!

    LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE!

God Whispers

God Whispers:

Your life is a song I am writing, words of poetry fitting together, rhyming, and building to a crescendo of praise.

I delight to sing a melody made just for you. Can you hear it? It changes as you change; soft and lovely when you are contemplating my wonders; low, comforting when you face sorrows. The music at times can be loud, triumphant when you overcome; melodic when you serve in obedience and faith. Remember I am present and fill your space when you praise me.

Open your eyes and see the wonders I would show you.

Open your ears and I will whisper your name.

Be ready to follow when I lead and be ready to stop when I call you to service.

Keep your focus on me. I treasure and delight in you.

Please know, precious are my thoughts of you, they are innumerable! You could not count them; they outnumber the grains of sand. (There are approx 10,000 grains of sand in 1/8 tsp) Meditate on that my child.

Response:

I will proclaim and declare that God is Good! He brings joy to all the earth. There is none like my God.

You are awesome, your mighty deeds are known in the world. My life is in your hands. You keep me from stumbling. You have captured my heart and my life will never be the same. God heard my cry and my sins I have repented.

All I am is because of you and I give back to you all I am.

Praise God who did not ignore my prayer and did not withdraw his unfailing love from me.

You are my Hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

AMOS 4:13

This is one of my favorite scriptures: When I read it I can see myself on top of a mountain and shouting these words. Just think the same power that raised Jesus from the dead resides in You. The Living God, the Creator of all things, lives in you—how Great is that!!! Remember that you are an ambassador of Christ Live like you believe that Truth and others will see Christ in You.

He who Forms the Mountains,

Creates the Wind, and Reveals his thoughts to Man,

He who turns the Dawn to Darkness, and

Treads the High Places of the Earth—

“THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY IS HIS NAME!”

Who's instructions are you following?

Recently I remembered a lesson I learned while recovering from knee surgery. I was having a difficult time recuperating. Living in an upstairs apartment and going up and down proved to be a challenge. Although the knee is better – the arm started to hurt and be painful. I am questioning the Lord and all I hear is “let go,” Let go of what? One day I was walking down the stairs and it dawned on me that I was holding the rail for dear life, when I did not have to. How long had I kept that up I do not know, while necessary when I was hurting, now just became a habit. How many times do we still cling to the things we get used to doing, things that do not give us what we are expecting? God gives instructions when we ask; all we have to do is listen and obey. This time, the answer was easy enough.

When you ask God to change your circumstances, He will give you instructions to follow. Your choice to obey is the key to change (you reap what you sow Galatians 6:7).

What step of faith is God asking you to make?

To forgive

To honor

To be faithful

To be loving

To have Mercy

To let go, or Any other step God may be whispering in your ear

The instructions you follow will determine the future you create.

Whose instructions are you following?

“Don’t ask God to order your steps if you are not willing to move your feet”

Peaceful Sleep

One very tiring night I was chasing sleep so I could dream:

To slumber is a gift from God
At the moment I don’t seem to have.

Peaceful sleep on a bed of roses

Sleep, sleep, peaceful sleep
perchance to dream
If only I could sleep.
To slumber is a gift from God
I have misplaced my gift, I can’t find

but the Fruit of the spirit is love... Galatians 5:22-23

but the Fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patientce, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23

I used to believe that being fruitful meant "to have a lot of children or teach a lot of children." It doesn't necessarily mean that. The Lord has been showing me lately that I need to be fruitful not busy. I decided to look that definition and discovered the dictionary says "abundantly productive". Isn't that just like God, he wants us to be abundantly productive. In our love, compasson for others and family, in our creative worship, our work, our play, in our joy.

How can we be abundantly productive and not be "busy"? The first thing is to spend more time with God and be aligned with His agenda, His purpose, His plan. Get the idea? When we say yes to His plan and no to all others. We will certainly be content only doing what He requires instead of doing everything and not getting done the important things God has planned for us.

Everything we do, good/bad matters in our life, so let us be mindful of every decision we make because it will affect others around us, our children and their children. When we live with that in mind we can see our value in Christ and be abundantly productive.

May love fill your hearts and homes. May love fill our streets, schools, business and government offices. May love be poured into the hearts of the lost so that they might know Jesus.

Apples of Gold - Proverbs 25:10-12

Growing up, I was around adults who did not speak kindly and without affirmation. I determined to be one who would speak only love and teach my children the power of the spoken word and to speak love, joy, and life into their lives. The following are some thoughts, with the Lords' help, I gave as my children were growing up:

Listen to your mother and remember your speech holds the power of life and death…. choose life…

Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Your words may be restful, clean, pure, and refreshing as it overflows without effort. Or it may be contaminated with the anxieties of this life and the impurities that attack the mind.

Righteousness is whom you trust and whom you live with. It is abiding in the vine and trusting the vine to work through you.

The fountain of Living Water makes our mouths pure and life giving by becoming our resource.

Do your words feed people with the truth and substance of what you say? Or does it, starve people through silence or empty speech…?

Do your words heal people with words of grace, love and kindness? Or does it, wound people with insensitive, harsh, critical and unhelpful words…?

Do your words deliver and protect people with advocacy and justice? Or does it, join the attack…?

Timely words spoken ….. Lovely as apples of gold in a silver basket.

Listen to these words and it will be well with your soul….

"When you talk, do not say harmful things, but say what people need-words that will help others become stronger."  Ephesians 4:29 (NCV)

Idle talk?

Those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord gave attention, listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in His presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored, who mediate, and give High regard for His name.

Malachi 3:16

What will the Lord overhear, when He listens to your talk?

National Day of Prayer

Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance

This is no time for politics, but it is a HIGHLY IMPORTANT TIME FOR PRAYER!
Please pray for our Nation, for the nations of the earth, and for President Obama. The Scriptures are very clear on this instruction,

Lord, we bless and pray for our President, Barack Obama and his family and all those in authority over us—and we pray for the leaders in the nations throughout the earth. May they make wise and prudent decisions in a time of great political, economic, and terrorist UPHEAVAL in the nations.

His Mercies are new every Morning Lamentations 3:22-23

As I begin my day the Spirit washes me clean so each day is new in the Love of God::
… He is slow to lose patience with me

… He takes the circumstances of my life and uses them in constructive ways for my growth

…he is for me, he wants to see me mature and develop in his love

…He does not keep score of all my sins and then beat me over the head with them whenever he gets the chance

…He is deeply grieved when I do not walk in the ways that please him, because he sees this as evidence that I don’t trust him and love him as I should

…He rejoices when I experience his power and strength and stand up under the pressures of life for his name’s sake

…He keeps on working patiently with me even when I feel like giving up and can’t see why he doesn’t give up with me too

…He keeps on trusting me when at times I don’t even trust myself

…He never says there is no hope for me; rather, he patiently works with me, loves me and disciplines me in such a way that it is hard for me to understand the depth of his concern for me

…He never forsakes me, though many of my friends might

…He stands with me when I have reached the rock bottom of despair, when I see the real me and compare that with his righteousness, holiness, beauty, and love, it is a moment like this that I can really believe that God loves me.

…Yes, the greatest of all gifts is God’s perfect love.

Make this your prayer:
God..Open my eyes to see the work of Your hands
Jesus...Open my ears to hear you whisper my name
Holy Spirit...Guide my steps today

What brings you joy?

Some days joy comes in the unexpected:
I agreed to take care of my sister’s new kitten while they went on vacation. Actually Alex will be watching him. It has been fun to watch “Mr. Kitty” (not so unusal name) run all over the place as if he was on some kind of mission. He hides and jumps in the air. I can almost see it in slow motion the jumping; leaping, twists and acrobatic turns, from the chair to the computer then behind Alex all in a few swoops, then finally resting in Alex’s lap dreaming away.

I wondered… the Lord might be smiling as he watches over me as I go from place to place. Trying to keep things in order and making decisions on my own, then finally resting in Him.

My prayer would be that you too will learn to walk daily in the Lords presence. To start your day with Jesus, to consider each moment you have to see God in everything you see and do. Holy Spirit refresh and renew us daily; remind us that in the Resurrected One, there is energy, power, and vitality to live in the moment. Thank you Lord for every lesson that comes my way.

In the Beginning

In the beginning God … Spoke the worlds into being…the world was not made out of things you can see….you can’t see spoken words. The words that God spoke out of his mouth framed this universe and set it in motion.

With God nothing is impossible…God never did anything that he didn’t say first….

God created man with the Ability to operate in the same kind of faith. Control those words that come out of your mouth and bring them into obedience to the word of God.

I have always loved words…..growing up I read the dictionary and the encyclopedia. I admire people who can spin words and tell a story or communicate important things ….

After a friend read some of my poems she encouraged me to say I was a writer…. after I started to tell people…hesitantly….yes I write poetry…relief …no one laughed…it seemed like every time I turned around everyone and their grandmother came to tell me they wrote too…and were excited they found someone else that wrote….although I was glad to find these people excited about writing.

I was wondering about something …and went to the Lord….”If all these people are writing…do you still want me to write?”

He answered, “Just be obedient to what I have for you and do not worry about what others are doing for me.”

OK….I began writing again, filling up more journals, and coming up with a collection of poems and stories. Doubt again came to me …who will hear/read these…will my words be effective? I went back to the Lord with questions….

How can you use my words to stir the heart?

Will my words be amusing?

I AM Laughter…

What if my words are sad?

I AM Comfort…

Will my words be strong?

I AM Power…

Will they be delightful?

I AM Wonder…

Can my words be righteous?

I AM Justice…

Will my words be grand?

I AM Higher than the Heavens…

Will my words be intellectual?

I AM Wisdom…

Will my words be colorful?

I AM Beauty…

Dare I be so bold to try and be heard?

I only want to be a voice for your words…

The heart is stirred by a Nobel theme

By the pen of a ready writer…

My prayer is that as we discover our gifts and learn to use them, that we will honor the lord in all our words and deeds.
